Can you tell us about Orascom Construction’s history and its evolution over the years?
Orascom Construction was founded in 1950 by my father, Onsi Bishai, as a small construction firm in Egypt. We have since become a multinational corporation with operations in more than 25 countries. Our portfolio has diversified to include infrastructure development, building materials, and facilities management. We have always focused on delivering high-quality projects and building lasting relationships with our clients.
Orascom Construction has a strong presence in the Middle East and Africa. How has the company navigated the challenges of operating in these regions?
Operating in the Middle East and Africa can be challenging, but it’s also very rewarding. We deeply understand the local cultures, regulations, and business environments, which gives us an advantage. We have also built strong relationships with our clients and partners over the years, which has helped us to navigate the complexities of doing business in these regions.
What are some of the key projects that Orascom Construction has been involved in recently?
We have been involved in several high-profile projects in recent years, including the construction of the New Administrative Capital in Egypt, the Suez Canal’s expansion, and the Cairo Metro Line 3. We have also been working on several infrastructure projects in Africa, such as constructing the Kazungula Bridge linking Zambia and Botswana.
What are Orascom Construction’s plans for the future?
We always seek new opportunities to expand our business and diversify our portfolio. We see a lot of potential in the infrastructure sector, especially in Africa, where there is a significant need for investment in roads, bridges, and other essential infrastructure. We are also exploring new technologies and innovations to help us deliver projects more efficiently and sustainably.
