TWC – Sen. Tim Scott has teased a “major announcement” on May 22, where he is expected to announce his 2024 GOP presidential primary bid officially. Since February, the sole Black Republican in the Senate has been testing the waters and recently launched an exploratory committee. Sen. Tim Scott has been on a listening tour for months, concentrating on “Faith in America”, and has paid multiple visits to Iowa.

In his exploratory committee announcement, Scott emphasized his evangelical faith, race, and experience growing up as the son of a single mother. His ethos is “Personal accountability”, and he believes the US is a nation of “opportunities rather than oppressions.”

Following his delivery of the GOP response to the 2021 joint session of Congress, where President Joe Biden delivered his address, Scott’s national recognition and influence significantly increased. Before his role in the Senate, Scott had served one term in the US House and held positions in the South Carolina State House and the Charleston County Council.

“I believe there’s nothing wrong with the American people. We need a new American government to unleash the American spirit,” Scott said on Sunday in Charleston, South Carolina, as he expanded his message. Scott’s announcement will shake up the 2024 presidential race and bring new possibilities for the Republican Party.
